Dr. Nupur Talwar has proved to be a modern day Savitri with the kind of moral support she has lent to her husband Dr. Rajesh Talwar in his days of extreme adversary. Having lost his daughter to an unfortunate incident of gruesome murder, barely he had time to come out of it, when a defunct legal system, pressurized by sensitized media reports leveled the gory allegation of his daughter’s murder on him and he was remanded to judicial custody for investigation. But during the tough times, Nupur proved out to be the best spouse anyone could dream of. She straightforwardly claimed that her husband was innocent and gave the media statement. She expressed solidarity with her husband much like Savitri who was married to Satyavan. Savitri struggled to bring back her husband from the clutches of Yamaraj from a near death situation. Similarly Dr. Nupur Talwar extended all her support to Dr. Rajesh when he was going through the unnecessary trauma of the investigation of his daughter’s murder. Knowing his wife’s support for him, gave him the strength to survive through the ordeal. A life partner is meant to be with through thick and thin and this is exactly what Nupur did, something similar to what Savitri might have done in modern times. Nupur’s faith in him allowed Rajesh to come out of the blow the society, the system and the circumstances had yielded to him. Is there a difference? They participate in brandishing products, sporting fashionable looks, attractive hairdos, flaunting latest gizmos and define themselves as a perfect style icon apart from being aggressive at the field. What with the team comprising of youngsters, more and more young blood is being preferred vis-à-vis experience. Earlier we had all the politicians who were some sixty years of age and had very little exposure to the actual progress going on in the world and the country was run on traditional policies resulting in more consumption than production in the economy as a whole. But now we have the “Lead India” movement initiated by the Times Of India which is inviting young aspiring India not only to be a part of the political mainstream but also to be a part of socially relevant projects.
